This is an “older” picture, and by older I mean more than a week old. Actually it was a week ago Sunday, as in yesterday, in case you have a sudden loss for days of the week, which tends to happen if you are un(der)employed and in need of constant reminding of what day it is.

I bruised my knees on this night, because I got a little too involved in my karoake. I actually don’t like to karoake because the only way I can carry any semblance of a tune is to, well, okay, I was going to say scream, but now that I think about it, I can’t carry a tune to save my life, or the life of anyone near and dear to me.

So, I was karoaking a little too hard on this particular Sunday and woke up the next morning with bruises all over my otherwise white knees. I got too excited during my first song, and the song, well, the song, isn’t that exciting for most people. It was “We are the World,” and aside from the few people who really got into it (I even got the Cyndi Lauper part down) I was one of the hardest rockers there. It’s not a rocking song. But it is. Sort of. Didn’t it make you feel good when it first came out?

It made me feel great. Empowered, even if I was just a child. A baby, not even out of my crib..okay, now I’m stretching it…I was old enough to know every single, stinking word of the song. Every breath. Every time Huey Lewis sang, or Cyndi Lauper or uhm, Michael Jackson…even if mentioning MJ isn’t politically correct anymore, sang their pretty little heads off, I listened. Is MJ not welcome on my blog anymore? I don’t know. Is his sickness to much for our “sane” world?

I wish I didn’t bruise so easily. I wish I could just get down to We are the World without worrying about waking up with spotted knees. I wish they’d make a remake..maybe a song about America and how we’re sorry that stupid people in this country elected a stupid leader. How we still want to be part of the world, at least a group of us. We can combine two songs “We are the World” and “Part of Your World” (from the Little Mermaid) and make a song like, “We are part of your world.” Direct it towards Canada and Western Europe and see what happens.

So…who wants to write the lyrics and who wants to write the music? I’ll get ready to sing my head off and bruise my knees. Deal?
