A couple of quickies this morning:

I picked up a copy of Getting Off: A Woman’s Guide to Masturbation, by Jamye Waxman. I love the tone of the book - she doesn’t make assumptions about who/what her readers might enjoy (both in terms of solo sex and partnered sex) so she just throws everything out there, in very clear language.

Disclaimer: I cut out the part where she calls the illustrations “Creepy as hell” although in thinking about it now, I believe that depending on how you see the world, this could be a compliment. Right?

Next: If you want to read a sample section from Getting Off you can do so today (or any day after today thanks to the world wide web). Bits of my history chapter have been posted over on the Reality Sandwich website. Another FYI - the history section is from the second half of the book. The first half of the book is all about tips, tricks, toys and tickles that she can use (or anyone can learn to use on, or with, her), while the second half of the book delves deeper into the historical, social and psychological parts of sex, and more accurately, masturbation. So, if you’re looking for technique, what I’m trying to say is, it’s in there too!

Also, Kudos to New York! A state I’m proud to live in. I know this is a flashback for some of you, but to the others of you, like me, (that means those of us who have just been reminded of this fact), New York is one of a growing number of states refusing to take government funding for abstinence only education. The NYT reported on the story a while back, and there are at least nine other states that are saying no to just say no! So today I feel like giving a shout out to New York, Ohio, California, Connecticut, Maine, Montana, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Wisconsin and Wyoming for taking a stand against bad sex education!

Oh, and tonight I’ll be on Playboy Radio (on Sirius Satellite Radio) for the porn review show.
