• Pope Benedict XVI is cast as Scrooge in this year’s Vatican Christmas story. Last week the Vatican opposed a French-sponsored U.N. proposal, (one that has the backing of all 27 European Union countries), that calls for the end of the criminalization and punishment of citizens of the world as a result of their sexual orientation. The Vatican says it condemns gay marriage and that’s why the Pope is against the proposal. Problem is the proposal isn’t about marriage at all. (Time.com)
• Another thing to file under abhorrent. A UK survey says that 1/4 of girls are forced to do something sexual that they don’t want to, and one in four 16-year-olds have been hit or hurt by someone they’ve dated. (Guardian.co.uk)
