Sex having no meaning requires that we trust ourselves when being sexual. First, it means making choices from a vast array of options. Will we make good choices? Choices that reveal things about us we're defended against? This is far worse than simply being exposed as having lust in your heart. Will we be attracted to activities that "good people" are not? Will our choices hurt our partner, our family, our country?

My wife says the sex is still great. She's 55 and I'm 61 and we've been married for nearly 37 years.

And her sex drive now outstrips mine.

I have to admit, though, it has been more than 30 years since the people walking down the street broke our front door open to find out why she was screaming, but we're a lot more careful with the windows now.

This is my third time trying to leave a comment. The first two times, I got the message "Hmmm, your comment seems a bit spammy. We don't like that around here." Was that because I gave my book title? My blog address? I'm trying again without any of that -- I don't know whether you can control what WordPress does.

Here's what I tried to say:
1. Yes, women over 40 (and 50, 60, 70) can have great sex. After it's no longer a biological imperative, I think it depends more on wanting to bond than the drive itself, though tingles and urges can be plentiful!

2. Your credibility as a sex educator is in no way diminished because you're taking a hiatus from partner sex. I am, also, after losing my beloved husband. But I'm still writing about sex and helping others by sharing what I know.

Thank you for being so candid. That's one of the many things we all love about you!
