• The Huffington Post asks Republicans or Democrats, Who’s Kinkier? Before even reading the piece (which is based on a survey from sex emporium Good Vibes), I’m going to say Republicans. My theory is the more uptight or conservative you are on the outside, the less so you are when you’re naked and being paddled somewhere inside.
• While we’re on the subject of politics, tomorrow IS the big day, so practice safe policy offers you some of the voting options Americans will have at the polls tomorrow, only in condom form. Choose between Obama (Use with good judgment), McCain (Old but not expired) and Palin (When abortion is not an option) condoms for extra protection on election day.
• One more for election coverage, because there are big votes on the state of marriage and sex work in California tomorrow. Voting NO on Prop 8 will allow marriage equality to continue in the state of California, and equality is a good thing, right? Right. Voting YES on Prop K will decriminalize prostitution (the oldest profession in the book fyi) and make it safer for sex workers to do their job. And in case you need more incentive to vote Yes on Proposition K, assuming you can vote on it, how’s this? “The decriminalization of prostitution was the main recommendation of the citywide San Francisco Task Force on Prostitution more than 10 years ago. A recent UCSF study found that 1 out of 7 sex workers in San Francisco were threatened with arrest by police officers unless they had sex with them and 1 out of 5 reported that polices officers paid them for sex.”
• The New York Times wrote another story on sex and relationships, this one on cheating spouses. The problem researchers say they face when asking subjects if they cheat on their partners is that nobody wants to cop to an affair! I think this number is on the low side, but the NYT reports that “about 10 percent of married people — 12 percent of men and 7 percent of women — say they have had sex outside their marriage.”
• Female Sexual Dysfunction. Do women care? According to a recent study in Obstetrics and Gynecology, 40 percent of 32,000 women aged 18-102 report sexual feelings of sexual dysfunction (39 percent say it’s in the form of diminished desire, 26 percent lack arousability and 21 percent have problems achieving orgasm). Now, of that 40 percent, only 12 percent says it causes them distress or unhappiness. Does that mean female sexual dysfunction is a “problem” or a “part of life”? They report. They decide.

Since everybody calls it a round up, why not call it a square down? It’s not all the news that’s fit to print, not even some of all the news that’s fit to print, but it’s a tiny sliver of both sex news and sexy films. And, for those of us watching our weight before the holidays, we know that a sliver is better than a slice.

• Columbia University started their own erotic review. You’ve probably heard of the g-spot, and possibly even the a-spot, but now it’s time for the c-spot. The first issue pays homage to red fingernails and strip clubs, while trying to work on the guy angle of sex writing by posting one anonymous dudes thoughts on the problems with talking openly about your sex life if you’re a guy.

• I made Xcritic’s list of Top 10 female adult directors. Although there are lots of other female directors doing really great things in the adult industry that deserve to be on this list – like Madison Young, Joanna Angel, Jane Hamilton and Nina Hartley – it is an honor to be recognized for my smallish body of work. That body of work will be expanding in 2009, this I promise.
• Adam & Eve/Zero Tolerance released Roller Dollz earlier this month. This porno flick features sex on skates. Sunny Lane, one of my favorite females in the industry, is the lead skater and girl can skate. Plus, in real life she’s also smart, funny and loves what she’s doing for a living. • Pirates 2 is also out from Digital Playground. It’s big budget and a big deal in this industry. Guaranteed both of these will be up for way too many awards at this year’s AVN Show.

Retail sales may be dropping at places like Saks and Bergdoffs by 10.9 percent and 15.8 percent respectively, but at Babeland sales are up by more than 10 percent from same time last year. In times of crisis, it makes sense that we all choose to let off steam by getting off. It is a screw or get screwed world we live in. Wouldn’t you agree?

Jaunted reports that American Airlines, upon their introduction of free! wi-fi! while you fly! has been receiving shitola from the Association of Professional Flight Attendants (which should not be confused with the Association of Unprofessional Flight Attendants, as these are people who just like to play flight attendant, and are not actually certified to serve you peanuts and get you an extra pillow if they so happen to even have pillows on your flight) about the predilection some passengers may have to view free, or not-so-free, online porn that comes with free! wi-fi! while you fly!

Fine, I may not want to find myself next to some overexcited Hasidic man who happens to be watching a porno of two cows doing it with a lady in a field in France, but it’s silly to think that with, or without, the Internet people can’t, or don’t, watch porn on a plane. I mean even if you bar “porn sites” from the friendly skies, you can still slip a disc in your computer, or portable electronic device, and watch as much gosh-darn porn as you’d fucking like as you fly. Well, or as much porn as you can watch before you battery dies, unless of course you happen to be on a flight that has plugs under your feet (thanks Virgin).

So, whether or not you can actually stream porn through the AA webserver or not, the Association of Professional Flight Attendants can’t stop porn from making its way on a plane. They can, however, refuse to serve you soda and a snack. Of course, by blocking said “pornography” you may also limit people from visiting other sites that aren’t porn, but sites that may be deemed “too hot to handle.” Heck, I can’t even log on to my site from some bigger chain sandwich/coffee shops, but alas, I’ve lived without wifi while flying for this long, I can live without going to certain sites when I fly.

Besides, I’ve actually watched porn on a plane before..and no one has stopped me. So just be smart about it. Even if you fly with your own porn, don’t wank off in your seat. Go to the bathroom and wank off quickly. While listening to the realistic ooohs and ahhs of your favorite startlet, be considerate to other passengers and wear headphones. And make sure nobody else has to watch what turns you on. Unless, of course, they ask to.
